Bylls Bill Payment

A new start-up bill payment service is coming to Canada. It’s called Bylls, and the company’s CEO — Eric Spano — today announced the company to the bitcoin world.

What does it do? Well, exactly as the name suggests! Users and companies are able to pay their cell phone, utility, and other bills using bitcoin. Convenient, huh?

“Our main goal in developing Bylls was to provide a secure and easytouse interface that would enable individuals with bitcoins to pay their bills as easily as they would using any other traditional online bill payment system,” said Spano. “This is one more step towards bringing Bitcoin into the mainstream.”

The company charges the following fees for their services:

  • Bills $1-$99: $3 fee
  • Bills $$100-$149: $4 fee
  • Bills $150-$499: $6 fee
  • Bills $500+: 1% of bill amount

Bylls touts a “straightforward online bankingstyle interface, extensive bill database and efficient identity verification system” to make sure everything works as it should, but the real test will see how it fares with consumers.

This launch has, in part, been made possible with the assistance of The Bitcoin Embassy in Montreal — and as mentioned, is only available in Canada.

“Our team is very proud to be the first in Canada to provide this service,” said Spano, in the company’s press release. You can view their website here.
