what goes on?

So what can you expect to happen at a group meeting? Well, for starters, each group conducts itself differently depending on the preferences and needs of the men involved. Check out the following list of logistics and activities for a typical men's group.

typical meeting format

* Time: 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month from 7:30-9:00 a.m.
* Opening Song: theme song and 2-3 others
* Praise: The men are led in a quiet expression of praise to the Lord
* Scripture: Short passages in support of the discussion theme are read by different men and comments on the readings are encouraged.
* Discussion: Comments are "drawn out" relating to the theme. The Spirit moves men to listen, share, pray and open up to the Lord.
* Spontaneous Witness: Members are encouraged to describe the Lord's action in their lives through family, friends, and work, as well as answers to prayers.
* Business: A brief time for announcements or other business.
* Closing Prayer: A "summary" prayer, if appropriate, and The Lord's Prayer.

For a more detailed outline and description of the specific nature of the fellowship, download our Catholic Men's Fellowship Handbook and also check out our men's fellowship group workshop handout. To start planning your own meeting, visit our Small Fellowship Group Meeting Plans resource center.

See the about us section for more information about the purpose of Men's Groups, or explore testimonials from other men involved with a group. You can even check out existing groups online (organized by geography) and get in touch with their leaders if and when you're ready to try a group out.
